Healthcare Visa Pay

Visa and credential basics

Healthcare visa pathways are not all the same

Salary records show useful sponsor history, but your real path depends on role, citizenship, license status, employer policy, and current immigration rules. Use this page as a research map before you ask a sponsor or attorney for specifics.

Policy watch

Last reviewed June 8, 2026.

H-1B policy changed materially in late 2025 and early 2026, including a $100,000 payment policy for some new H-1B petitions and a weighted cap-selection rule. Check current official guidance before relying on any H-1B plan.

Nurses

Registered nurses often need green-card-focused research, not just H-1B salary records. Schedule A includes professional nurses and points to CGFNS certification, a full state nursing license, or passing the NCLEX-RN.

Physical therapists

Physical therapists also appear in Schedule A. Ask employers whether they support H-1B, green card sponsorship, or both, and confirm state-license timing before comparing pay.

Physicians

Physician paths can involve H-1B, J-1 waiver questions, training history, state programs, and employer-specific policies. Ask which route the employer supports for the exact role.

Visa types this site can help you research

H-1B

Common for specialty occupations, but cap rules, cap-exempt status, wage level, employer policy, and timing matter.

H-1B1

A specialty-occupation route for Chilean and Singaporean nationals. The salary records can show employers with H-1B1 history.

E-3

A specialty-occupation route for Australian nationals. The salary records can show employers with E-3 history.

TN

A route for qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals. TN does not use LCA salary records the same way, so absence from this site does not mean absence of TN hiring.

Credentialing checks before pay comparison

  • Nurses: confirm state board rules, NCLEX eligibility, license timing, and any credential evaluation requirement.
  • PT/OT and other healthcare roles: confirm state licensure, credential evaluation, English testing, and VisaScreen timing when required.
  • Every role: ask whether the employer starts sponsorship before license approval or only after you are fully credentialed.
